Just love the rumours!!! Like all those rumours about new rinks, will wait for opening night.
plod16MemberCrd will have to play disciplined hockey and not get caught up in the moment. They showed that when they open hockey as they did in the 2nd game (2nd & 3rd period) that the other teams don’t/can’t keep up with them. This was how they played in Dunedin and carved up!
plod16MemberSwarm won’t be happy after coughing up a 3 or 4 goal lead over the last weekend and Admirals ship won’t float for long.
plod16MemberI heard that due to time constraints and $$ (estimated at 80k) the concrete floor was flagged, at least the boards will be better.
plod16MemberThere were a number of years when the cup wasn’t played for with a variety of reasons cited.
plod16MemberThe cup was closed to entry from any of those nasty Canty teams either because they won it too often or was it that they never played on natural ice, could be a conspiracy theory in there somewhere!!
plod16MemberWhat about some tournys that involve Canty teams as it sounds like Dunedin are having domestics and hissys! Anyone remember the A/B Club champs from back in the late 80s/ early 90s??????
plod16MemberFrom memory, Pete would not have been playing for any of the Canty teams from Centaurus but the Albury Kings back then and you are lumping the location that the cup was found into the anti-Canty argument when the only thing they have in common is that they are/were north of the Waitaki!
plod16MemberThere are some pixs on NZIHF website from the CRD games over the weekend, looks like only the sat game as yet
plod16MemberYup, guess goalies are prone to more ‘errors’ than most would freely admit. I have seen a goalie misunderstand the referees delayed penalty signal and head to the bench only to find that his team was being penalised!! Luckily, the other team couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat!
plod16Membersounds like queenstown will be one up on the record then!!
plod16Memberthe IIHF have a whole lot of scheduling possibilities under international rules and regulations. the IIHF tournys usually start with top v bottom seeds and work to 1 v 2 at the end. It takes the cricket scores out of the equation and prevents teams having to run up the scores.
plod16Memberyeap, a 60X30 in chc and a rink like gore in rangoon and ashvegas but you should’ve won it two weeks ago!!!
plod16MemberIt sounds like that the new season’s schedule should be based on the seeded order from last season, and if the home team has a clash or wants to change that weekend, they can only change/swap with the travelling team, (swap 1st round for the 2nd round matches).
The season roster should be kept as simple as possible not only for the players but for the large number of volunteers who run the games behind the scenes.
plod16MemberThink you would find the home team rents the ice from the rink and keeps the gate.
Makes sense to have a formatted schedule or plan to setting the games, but I agree that it would be sense to have all teams play one complete round before the bye weekend, then play the second round.
Rich teams will only be rich with good gate attendences.
