Yea i agree with Kyle, I love how the Sabres play iv been picking them all season, i think they can win it. Chris Drury, Danny Briere, Maxim Afinogenov, Jason Pominville, Derek Roy, just to name a few of the clutch players on their lineup. They have all scored big goals this season, briere especially. I just dont think any other team has enough speed and flare to match them for a whole game, especially how the nhl is emphasising speed now, and the fast players (EUROPEANS, SORRY RYAN) are starting to dominate!

I thin we will be looking at a Buffalo vs. Anaheim final, mabye san jose, they are starting to click also.

I predict Briere and Afinogenov to score some big goals like these goals from buffalo last year!! Check out goal #3 by Afinogenov, he is god!

    Hey dudes and dudesses,

Yea man the sportcourt would be by far the better option, the tiles i would estimate to be 250mmx250mm i dunno, mabye closer to 300mm?
Why i suggested contacting palmerston inline hockey, is basically because the Palmerston North club were looking at getting sportcourt specifically designed for hockey, but the rights to the design are owned by a north american company. They did not want to pay the patent or whatever its called, so they designed their own tiles which are very similar in design to the north american ones, but are square instead of triangular (which are the original N. A. design).

Palmerston has had some problems with them but nothing major, and in my opinion these tiles are the most alike surface to ice that I have come across. There is practically no maintainence with them, and the puck slides extremely well, just like ice. I would fully recommend these tiles, we were going to get them in Napier at one stage and were sent a sample of them which we used to practice some skills on. They proved a very good surface.

No offence or anything, but this ice court thing doesnt make sense, I imagine there would be a whole lot more maintenance, and think about it: A razor sharp blade cutting into some plastic surface had got to do some serious damage!! I just cant see how this type of surface would work without a whole lot of maintenance we dont really want to put up with.
I fully agree with you on the fact that we need the closest thing we can get to ice, so that training is as effective and applicable to ice as possible. However any practice is good practice and the fundamentals are the same, if you can shoot top-shelf on an inline surface, chances are you can do this on ice as well!!

Anyway peace and godbless 😉 ,

Hey i dont think these special surfaces are the best idea, I fully agree with kyle!!

Put a good sportscourt surface down and play inline hockey! Now this is not just cheap advertising, but we have superskills training balls at SK8 which have been specifically designed, and are the best i believe; at replicating the feel of an ice puck. The ball strikes the stick blade at the exact point that an ice puck would, and they are weighted so that they move at a similar speed to a puck on ice. The weight when shooting is also very alike to that of an ice puck. I have one myself and they are the best thing I have ever trained with, and believe me I have tried everything, golf balls, pool balls, tennis balls, and even an array of fruit.

Why not use a few of these and play up there, whether its a good surface or not, everyone has, or can get hold of; some inlines, and we have free (im guessing) practice time!! Id be fully keen to do this, as I have worn through stick blades all summer on the concrete!! Any relatively smooth surface would be a luxury, even if there was a bunch of us just passing the ball round or whatever, this would be great for training!! There are stairs there to run, and the beach could be used for a training session. Or perhaps im getting carried away here!?

Palmerston North rink is a great rink, although it is not the best, those kind of tiles would be great upstairs at the rink. The palmerston club got the tiles for approx. $6 a tile for the whole rink, in total I dont know what that adds to, as I am a P.E. student, but im guessing it would be less than 10K. So mabye contact them and see where they got them from??

If not, just paint the floor and play hockey! it doesnt need to be a state of the art rink or anything, if people want to improve, they will train no matter what the training facilities are like, we just need the ok from neil or what ever.

    Peace y’all,

I have heard of this stuff too, however, I dont see how it works.
If you can use normal ice skates on it and can hockeystop etc, then how do u repair it. Im assuming that a hockey stop would damage the surface in some way, so how is it maintained??

Yeah this hockeyshop.co.nz site is not going to happen guys.

Basically it was an auckland dude wanting to sell gear but I dont think he got enough interest through email for him to bother with it.
I emailed him about getting my new mission sticks but its basically pointless to order through him, as all that he does is import the gear and charge you the total importing cost plus he takes a cut, ur basically paying him to take the risk of importing. If you want gear from North America i suggest just ordering a shipment for yourself (from hockeygiant.com, icewarehouse.com, epuck.com, hockeymonkey.com) as i have done many times. Even better is to get a group of people to order, so that shipping is shared. Remember dont go over about $1000 as N.Z. Customs will ping u for importing duties and taxes.
Of course the best place to get gear has got to be [b:1hlbiqn0]www.sk8.co.nz[/b:1hlbiqn0], come and see us today!! haha 😉

Hey dudes, hope all is well and you had a mad new years!!

Anyway, there is a lady in New Zealand that gets her friends in the US to tape her NHL games, and send the best ones over to her. She just sold 4 tapes (total 8 FULL games) on trademe which I purchased for $2 a tape!
If you guys want them, let me know and once I have watched them all (which will only take a couple of days), I will send them to you, if you give me ur address etc.

Although I have not seen them yet, there are some good matchups including some Buffalo games (they will win the Stanley Cup this year), so will be good watching eh!

    Peace,

Yea man 4sure get me the clips and i could do that.
Id also be keen to do highlights around playoff time so that everyone could check out the latest action so I could put some stuff together for the site, as often the highlights are shit and not exactly straight to the point for us here in N.Z.
Would someone be that uptight about us using highlights to help promote ice hockey in this country??

Yea man id be keen to do that, but let me know what you want and il try do it, eg. what type of clips, how often etc, and what format you want them in. The clips I have on my computer are much better quality, so if there was a way I could post these on the Dunedin Ice Hockey site directly, this would be much better, but ud hav to show me how to do that im not too familiar with how to do such things!!
Yea the commentators are so passionate for the NHL, I think taking the calls out of the highlights takes all the emotion out of the goals, which kind of kills it i recon, so we’ll keep them in there!
Il do another one for goalie saves and fights (if wanted) and let me know what you think eh.

    Hey bro,
Dont know what u mean bowt disabling, but all good.
With the site I just looked into it and it appears that currently they are not letting people register after the start of the season.
However, I think I am able to invite a few people to join, I dont know whether this will work or not but it would allow you to hav ur own account which would be heaps easier!
So if u could send your email and get kyles email adress through a reply I should be able to hook u up wit an invite through an email.

Hey guys hope all is well down there sounds like the summer leagues going well, which is good to hear.
Anyway, if u want highlights the best site in my opinion would easily be CIF-Forums (http://www.cif-forums.com/vb). I have been to almost every site with videos and nothing comes close, there are weekly highlights posted, about 5-10mins long each, and it will most definately keep u up to date with action round the league, and even some elite leagues like SM-Liiga etc.
So yea check it out and let me know what u think, most files are in WMV or JPG format and are done through rapidshare and sendspace etc so easy as to download.
As far as signing up is concerned, there are times during the year you cannot sign up. If this is the case hit me wit an email and il give u my password.
    Peace,
    Stiff.
