Is that the same thunder youre not good enough to play for? easy fix for the imports, we just recruit better imports, more like polozov, but not illegal immigrants
Vince it doesn’t matter how big your pool of eligible players is, the ice blacks pool of players is much smaller than aussie but we are competitive with them at world champs now, so why would our nzihl teams not b competitive with the aihl teams?
i just find it unusual that the thunder goalies werent asked first, with no direspect to jamiee, coz shes awesome, but the thunder goalies are the best in dunedin so why werent they asked? it would have made more sense for the comnpetition surely?
but still, big ups jamiee for kickin ass out there with the bestas much as i want the stampede to win, i think the swarm are the best team the nzihl has ever had right now
THis is fantastic news! even if we are behind in skill, which i dont believe we will be: on the basis of numbers, we have a smaller league to pull players from and we still compete with the aussie national team. so theoretically their strength will be diluted across the 8 teams they have making the nzihl and aihl teams relatively even.
im sure costs and the like will be sorted out, this is a primo opportunity for tv promotion etc which brings in sponsorship monies to reduce costs if not elimiate them completelyyea but no one will no which is the official and which is the un official? especially if the unofficial is better than the official, you can still throw the sponsors logo on the website, to hell with TM and copyright laws, make it look official and then itl end up becoming official
We can still bitch about them! Like how, in dunedin, they had the charity auction tucked in a corner no one was walking past and then had their own merchandise stall out the front, even though they broke even in auckland and had made a shit load of profit. or how the “home of the thunder” carpet, which the thunder kneel around before each period was taken from their changing room and run over with a fork lift? or how they never went out of their way to say anything about the fact that hockey was played in new zealnd, despite claiming to want to promote the game here?
Big ups to kerry goulet and the players for caring though, had a yarn to them and they were most keen to promote the nzihl, one even took a thunder hoody home with him and proclaimed that he wanted to return and coach the thunder to victory, though that was clearly a jest of the moment
yea im not going as i dont want to see two half teams play with half hearted enthusiasm, i would much rather wait and go to any of the games that azzy has just pointed out as they will be played with a passion that is real and cant be captured by two pick up teams on a holiday, no matter how good there players are or used to be. If you were in the USA would you pay $65 to go watch a game with troy flavell, sean fitzpatrick, craig dowd androbbie robinson play against john eels, ollie la rue and ian jones, with no reserves on each team that claimed to be New Zealand vs Australia, the two biggest teams in Rugby? this is what they are doing
I realise that and so should the players, that is why it is absolutley appalling that this happened. The ref said he saw it happend and was going to talk to the player in question, if i was reffing it would have been a straight MP and suspension. Same with Paul Scott i would have said. Only bad calls of the weekend really
BY hitting i mean cross checking in the kidneys. The linesman got in the way, the Admirals player swore at him then cross checked him in the kidneys. This player did this twice
So i saw something i never thought id see in our nat league, a player hitting a ref. not once, but twice! same player same linesman. surely that constitutes unsportsmanlike conduct?
Note to players: the refs do not know your intention, though they do their best to get out of your way its not always possible. You on the otherhand can see them so have every opportunity, as you are controlling the play, to skate in a direction that isnt directly at them. Dont hit a F*&king ref!
