Just being fussy, but I am the local women’s team goalie; Jaimee plays for the Southern Women, not the Dunedin women, although she was the ring in when I was ill.

My pick: Two goals to Bret Dougherty, one via a rebound and another on a rebound. One goal to moi via a breakaway and another to Jaydee Cabral coz she said she wants one before the season finishes. Two goals to the Superfly, not sure who’s going to score them though.

Not too far off Ryan! We weren’t too shabby eh!! Everyone stepped up tonight & I think Superfly enjoyed having to work for it… they certainly were impressed at how much we had improved from the first game…

Chiefs vs Bullfrogs showdown in the B-grade tonight. Apparently we have the mighty Neil Dudley in the pipes for us (the Bullfrogs) for the rest of the season so we can expect to see some serious puck-stopping action going on.

    nope, its still me.

Now, what are you implying about seeing some serious puck-stopping action with Neil?

    [b:3cwe5huu]Bullfrogs vs Midgets[/b:3cwe5huu]
My Pick: Bullfrogs 3 Midgets 6. The Midgets won’t be able to hold out against the power forwards on the Bullfrogs team, but the Midgets will also have no trouble slicing through the Bullfrogs defense. Whatever the final result, it is almost guaranteed to be a fairly high score.

    Nice vote of confidence Ryan.

We tried to get the crowed behind the IBs bench going, gave up and just yelled our heads off and they followed suit after a while. Don’t think any of them actually knew what was going on, when we started loudly interpreting the refs calls they got more into it.

we = me and some IB family members, don’t know who they were, but we were all annoyed with the crowed.

An interesting question. As far as I can tell, there’s no advertising at all.

My family heard it advertised on a radio station, and that it was expected to sell out. I’m dragging the whole family of 4 out on Sunday.

rule number 1 –  no goalies allowed… are we allowed as players if we still have random bits of player gear floating around?

    Just being picky

Does anyone know what the justification for the rule is? I’ve never been clear on that.

No idea. I think a bunch of little boys are just scared to be beaten by girls and so instituted a rule to stop them.

    [/quote:bumcsy6c]

To be honest I think that’s quite unlikely. between players of comparable skill, women are unlikely to physically dominate men. An example would be Kara vs Myself. Similar level of hockey skill (Maybe?) but somehow the thought of her hitting me doesn’t fill me with fear. (no offence kara – it’s just that compared to me you’re not very big <img decoding=” title=”Cheesy” />)

No, there has to be a better reason than that.
    [/quote:bumcsy6c]

haha Chris I only just found this…. no offence taken…. If I ever play out again I don’t think I will play checking, with a recurring neck and back injury from the last time I played with the big boys (not checking, obviously)… ironically the two guys who hit me still aren’t much bigger than me….

One of my team mates is dead keen on there being another DIHL, and was positive towards organising it himself. I’ll bump him an email and ask him if he is serious.

The first Tekapo/ QT game was awesome. Liv and I goal judged. As two goalies we both appreciated the goal tending, and were stoked to watch Parry play up close.

    Ditto.

I’ve played in more teams that get thumped than do the thumping, (ie. Southern Women in SIHL SNC vs any SIHL SNC team) and I know I felt more proud of my game for Gore against Alex, than I did for my period for Women agianst Alex – when I played for Gore I realised that Alex had taken it easy against the Women, as their intensity stepped up and they were frustrated that they could only score on me twice in the first period – until the second period when they went nuts when they scored 9 goals – it’s a nice feeling to have frustrated a team that is actually trying, especially a team that previously put 20+ past me on several occasions.

And put in a late payment penalty to encourage people to sign up in February/early March, so that the club can plan those things out more fully. There should be a late fee for DIHL as well.

If we had a late fee for DIHL this season, the club would be rolling in $. In the extra week I had to add on to the sign up period the number of people signed up more than doubled.

Kara are there rosters and timetables for the DIHL? Be good to get those on the web site.

And have Michael and Joyce been sent information as head referee and scorer?
    [/quote:39spl8jx]

Yep to all the above questions, Mike got it all before everyone yesterday, and Joyce about a week ago. I was getting around to putting it on the website, have only just finished redoing the team rosters for Teams Physed and Oldtimers.

Why is it all so late? as of Monday last week I still only had 18 players signed up so I had to extend the sign up period. Now I have nearly 50 and most have paid, most will have paid by Monday and the Juniors will need some more time as they only signed up a team (with the manager still chasing some of them) on Thursday.

A large number of people who normally play DIHL have complained about the cost of DIHA membership this year and have not signed up because of it.
