MemberI think to grow ice hockey in Dunedin, we need to promote the sport in general. And let them know it is actually played here, and we do actually have an ice rink (I have had conversations with people who did not know we had a rink, and who didn’t know ice hockey was played in NZ). We could also tell them that it is probably safer than playing rugby!
Chris’ idea of chalk signs is interesting, we need slogans! : Get rough – play ice hockey – visit http://www.dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi!
I’m thinking of being a walking billboard for womans hockey, on a t-sirt :
be a blade babe – play ice hockey
http://www.dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi i just want a top that says blade babe and an image of some hockey skates…

It should always, I think, be kept as a friendly, open grade, trying to accept as many people as possible. The young kids are obviously going to be small, but they’re not the only ones. Kara is tiny for example. If there’s a problem with physical size, then shouldn’t there be a tape measure before you step on the ice? Or scales? Why discriminate on age if size is the problem?
[/quote:2dmbh89k]You said it better than I could have myself Kyle.
If I’m considered tiny, then you have to consider Bodie tiny, and we all know she could skate rings around any B grade player, and take any knocks thrown at her from any player.

MemberWay off topic, but figure skaters pay less for ice time becuase they train more often (up to everyday of the week) and have to pay WAY more than hockey players for training.

MemberTrue, I agree with you, we need more ice time for hockey, the couple of hours we get now are just not enough!

MemberHey,
Just thought I’d let you know the DISC has all weekday mornings booked up from 6-9, and then Morgan seems to have the ice to herself, and 7-10 on Saturday. Not too sure about Sunday though, Icentric has the ice from 9-11.
Unfortunately ice time is hard to come by on a busy rink!twolefts
Memberthat would be heaven in your own back yard
