How about somebody who wants to find a team put up their own sheet at the rink asking for other people who want to play? Once you have 10 people plus a goalie, that person can form a team! You can hope and pray and complain about someone else from DIHA putting up a sheet or you can put a few lines down on a page, hit print, and head to the rink yourself.
vpatrolMemberglad it was a close one.
vpatrolMemberso who won?
vpatrolMemberyou do realize that I can’t be there for a couple of games on sunday?
vpatrolMemberI’ll probably be in Dunedin for the weekend but not available for all the games. I’m heading home around 11am on sunday. I can fill in if you need it though.
vpatrolMemberHow did 2 chch teams find out about it? They certainly weren’t relying on advertising in Dunedin? I’m probably one of the few people on the forum regularly from Dunedin and I had nothing to do with getting them info.
I’m not talking about Paul in particular but if the info is able to be sourced on the forum and he knows about the forum then…..
For those who aren’t tech savvy, why don’t they ask around then? Clearly there are Dunedin teams and you would very quickly run into someone who knows. You would probably also run into people who are interested but don’t have the info either. In which case, one would hope that they would step up and organize a team themselves. If not, then you can’t blame DIHA.
It’s the same argument in the past when things aren’t handed to people on a silver platter. You quickly find not much investigating was done by the person. If they truly wanted to play, they would have found the info. If an existing team didn’t want them, tough. I can’t force my way onto a team that already has goalies so I can either get in earlier next year or start my own.
vpatrolMember6 people not making contact with anyone official makes you question their effort level.
There are lots of ways of getting on the team if you want to. I’m not going nor was I asked but I could have found out within an hour who the two Chch teams are and whether they needed players.
vpatrolMemberWhy do they need to be asked? Why do they need to have their hand held? I’m sure there are easily accessed email addresses on the DIHA website that they could have written to. I’m sure Kyle would not have ignored emails if they were sent to him. I have a feeling they weren’t sent to him or others.
So if someone wants to claim they are being marginalized for not being in the right circles but made no attempt to let their availability be known, then their problem.
vpatrolMemberI agree with Kyle. Team entries are not obligated to solicit spots to casuals. If casuals want to play, they should be pro-active and ask questions. The forum would have been a good place to start. Or they can organize their own team. It’s not up to tourney organizers to form a team and place casuals on it.
vpatrolMemberI’ve known about it for many weeks now due to the advertising plus its an annual event so that makes it easy to remember when its coming up
vpatrolMemberyes
vpatrolMemberAdmirals will be a similar squad as last year with a few changes. Different coach I think. I wouldn’t expect drastic changes to the team except tactics might change.
vpatrolMemberI think Hayden is figuring out what he wants to do first. Devils can only name those who trial or express interest (IB’s, imports etc).
vpatrolMemberi do believe its tongue and cheek however I think thunder have 6 imports.
vpatrolMemberthey performed to the potential of their coach last year but not to the potential of players.
