What makes you say that? I assumed it would be the opposite and the reason for it being kiwi vs kiwi was for development purposes like others suggested above.

When I watch sports, I want to see the best players play regardless of nationality.

Kaszala is the best player in the league based on pure skill.

Kemp and Salsl play physical hockey and aren’t afraid to drop gloves (which fans love) instead of watching guys run their mouths like tough guys but their gloves are glued to their hands and their cages taped tight to their helmets.  Did I mention fans like a fight?  I thought you liked physical hockey Kelf or is it because they aren’t Stampede players?

Not holding my breath but it would be awesome when they finally get it.  A 6 team league is a very good situation when they develop enough quality players.  Having a semi-final would be fantastic!

Being on sunday doesn’t hurt Canterbury supporters nor does it really hurt the players.  The fans will turn up and I can’t imagine Canterbury organizers are too gutted if southerners dont make the trip.  Time to celebrate afterwards is not really a factor either.  The boys want to win a hockey game.  Everything else is irrelevant.  If you want to change it, win the regular season next year and do so or build a new rink in Chch.  You’ll certainly get some patronage in it.  Either way, its a dead matter for this year.

except you are forgetting that alpine ice doesn’t care how much notice we give them for ice time.  They will not relinquish the 4 hours on a saturday night.  It was probably going to be a sunday final no matter what.  Saturday night is a better chance for many johnnies and suzies to get it on and create the next generation of skaters who will shaft hockey players in the future.  Alpine ice knows that.

prostitutes make good money nowadays.  Being forced into the business world will bode well for his future and the future of his young family.  Nobody reads Romeo and Juliet anymore.  Where has young love gone.

Plus what shinanigans would they be getting into if it wasn’t for sunday hockey?  Church?  Do you have any idea what those Catholic girls are like?  Frankly the Red Devils are doing christianity a favour!

however by keeping all the southerners away from the rink, we are keeping mom and dad in the same area.  You otago sailors can’t jump ship back home and leave poor suzie on her own and we keep the spread of any viruses contained although we know full well you brought it here.

little did johnnie knows but suzie met Tommy on the way to the toilet.  She’s had a thing for him since ice skating 07.  Poor Johnnie.

boohoo, queenstown supporters can’t make it down to our rink to support the other team. <img decoding=” title=”Wink” />

home crowd advantage.  Not home ice although I would rather play on chch ice than qtown.  Our lights illuminate and we have boards.

if skaters make more money than hockey, why would the rink give a toss about the day we want?

Alpine ice is a business and they favor public skaters over ice hockey.  Until a new rink with new ownership comes along, it will always be the same.  Get used to it.

Revenue from the game won’t matter.  We will get the same number of supporters on sunday as we will on saturday.

Canterbury will get blindingly drunk regardless of work the next day.

Even if we had control of the rink, I don’t think we would care too much about Southern supporters and their woes to be honest.  More concerned about our own.

I think Janos has been working hard with the minors but I haven’t actually seen them yet.  Hopefully having someone with his skill will pay dividends for Canty in the future.

What was more exciting, watching NZ play Aus or when they played Ireland?  What was a better game for the fans who will pay to watch this game?  A game featuring kiwi against kiwi or a game including imports that raises the calibre of the game?

Take away the Bjorkmans and the Salsl’s and Kemps and Kaszala’s and this weekends final loses a lot.

I think its an opportunity lost but that’s just me. (and also every other player I’ve talked to but I’ll let them join slapshot and make their opinions known for themselves)

It’s not about moving on.  It’s about what was originally intended and what it is now and what it could have been.  This forum doesn’t seem to be about moving on anyways.  Plus the “top” NZ players were not all selected anyways.
