They don’t allow the New Zealand players to play in the State of Origin in Aussie
so in the New Zealand Skate of Origin it should be the same.[/quote:1fwh58ao]
I’m not an import however if we are talking about best goalies, no offence to Sheepo but the two best in the south this year are Justin and Rick (Rick on form and not numbers). If it’s purely by the numbers, the list was chosen before the sat game where I was beating sheepo in all categories. My opinion of the game has nothing to do with my involvement however. I wasn’t expecting selection. What I want is the best product on the ice to showcase ice hockey in NZ. The import players who are on the leaderboard should be included.
Canterbury had a kiwi vs international game early in the year which was a fundraiser for minor hockey. Raised a good chuck of change. Even Jeff and Mike took part. That model could work well. The kiwi team would clearly be the in form kiwi’s/IB’s. Imports make up the rest. Essentially the cream of the crop in NZ. A rookie/junior game could also showcase the up and comers who are the future IB’s and league leaders.
That would be an all star game.
vpatrolMemberhttp://www.nzihl.com, lo and behold, it’s called….an all star game! Thanks for your all star comments Emma though. You are one class act.
vpatrolMemberit’s not an all-star game then. Call it a north vs south IB’s trial.
vpatrolMemberI think selection criteria needs to be looked at as well. The idea had great potential but I’m concerned about how its been handled so far. I’m not even sure who the decision makers were.
vpatrolMemberCongrats again Justin on securing the top goalie award for the season. Not a bad first year!!! You definately earned it.

oooooooooooooo. You gonna take that one Vince? lol
[/quote:1iln2kxo]Yes. I’m an excellent warm up goalie. Forgot to do my eye exercises on sunday though. Didn’t see the puck so well until it stopped moving in the back of my net. Finals are in Chch though so mission accomplished.
vpatrolMemberthe countdown begins.
vpatrolMemberI think there are a few floating around. I’m sure they will multiply shortly

more news. Part of the worst week for the Aussies photo montage
vpatrolMemberI wasn’t too far off the mark except for the close game remark.
vpatrolMemberis that a guess or the actual score?
vpatrolMemberI say Swarm tonight. 5 to 2 but a close game. Bit of a hangover game perhaps.
vpatrolMemberor perhaps the more conventional reason of him being better than any player south of the equator.
“Since I’m donimating the AIHL, I’m sure I can score on this chump. Hey guys this chump has Luongo on his back. Who does he think he is?”
“Ummm, I think he’s Luongo”
“You mean its the guy who was my goalie on NHL ’09 that we were playing at the hotel?”
“Umm, yeah I think so”
“Oh crap! Does cricket have any use for a defenceman and an aging forward? You with me on this Rubes?”
vpatrolMember"Kyle":jedor73g wrote:I suspect Roberto Luongo couldn’t have won that first game. Team just wasn’t there. [/quote:jedor73g]Roberto would have won because all the players would be saying “holy crap its Luongo!” and flubbing their shots.
vpatrolMemberNo difference. Zak stopped the puck but he was caught out of position many times. It often amounted to nothing as Aus didn’t get any shots away. On saturday, they did get those shots away. I don’t think it would have mattered who would have played sat night. Rick may have been able to win sunday had he played that one. The IB’s as a whole played better on sunday and I think that was the difference. It was a team effort and not an individual one. Once again though, Zak stopped the puck. He did his job but the rest of the guys did their jobs too.
