The games were not official?

Almost positive it doesn’t meet criteria for IIHF since a number of players were ineligible due to them being Canadian and not Australian. It doesn’t take away from the win though because they made that team better.
vpatrolMemberFinally saw the games today. Saturday had a bit of a disappointing 2nd half. As far as sunday goes, WOW! That was a great game. Stampede and Devils lines played very well! Zak made the saves he needed to make and he gave the team a chance to win. Eaden and Speirs beat Ezzy on a deke and a shot just to put the exclamation mark on it! Loved it! Great break out games for Paris as well. Well done IB’s. Not one for the record books as far as being official but we’ll all remember it.
vpatrolMemberMust be Jet Star!
vpatrolMemberIs there a reason for the late arrival? I’m not going to buy “visa troubles” twice in a row.
vpatrolMemberwould have been perfect!!!
vpatrolMemberAny coverage on nhl.com is great coverage. Much of that article has been recycled but that’s ok! More N.A players will know about us.
vpatrolMemberI’ll need to make sure we have enough players to make me look good first. Any extras you can have. As the years go by though, its getting harder and harder to make me look good
vpatrolMemberI’m pretty sure you will get one of our young Red Devils next year because of uni.
vpatrolMemberAdd Fazende to last years Thunder roster and I think it would be a very competitive team. Thunder lost some important players who weren’t replaced with imports. That won’t happen again next year. They will be ok.
vpatrolMemberOh I’ll be there!
vpatrolMember42 for and 142 against. That’s like losing each game by a score of 3.4 to 1 (if that’s possible). In that light, its not too bad. They were either competitive or blown out.
vpatrolMemberSo devils have climbed from the bottom to the top steadily improving? I’m picking up what you are laying down. And the Stampede did well during the league infancy but then dropped off? I hear you brother.
vpatrolMemberYeah Stampede won the last 2 years. Oh wait, no, hold on. Just checking my stats. My bad, Stampede were 3rd place the last 2 years and didn’t make the final.
vpatrolMemberSo that’s roughly what happened at the games for those who are interested. Official game results are on http://www.nzihl.com and only http://www.nzihl.com so don’t yell at me if you don’t like the descriptions! Disclaimer over.

Red Devils On Fire On The Ice
Not even a dislocated shoulder to one of their star import players could take the gloss off another two commanding victories for the Canterbury Red Devils in the latest round of the New Zealand Ice Hockey League over the weekend.
Hosted by the West Auckland Admirals, the Devils repaid the hospitality with a rampant display of goalscoring that sees them leading the league in For and Against, having notched 47 tallies for a miserly 3 in return, after only four games of the sixteen-game competition.
Backed up by another solid effort by goaltenders Justin Findlay and Vince Mitalas, who shared a game each over the weekend – Mitalas recording his first shutout after five years competing in the league – the Devils overcame a difficult travel day on Saturday to notch up a scratchy 10-1 win in Game One of the weekend. Admirals scoring ace Jeff Bonazzo was right when he pointed out afterwards that the scoreline flattered the Canterbury franchise: ?It didn?t seem like a 10-1 game out there tonight, but you?ve got to hand it to Canterbury ? they buried their chances?. The chances came early for the Devils, when Chris Eaden was pulled down on a breakaway, and was awarded a rare penalty shot which he converted with a quick wrist shot under the Goalie?s glove.
Once again, Eaden topped the stats chart with 12 points for the weekend, with five of his seven goals coming in Game Two. But for Canterbury?s other leading goalscorer Kyle Papai, the weekend away turned into a trip to the emergency room to have a badly dislocated shoulder reset. The lanky Canadian is likely to miss at least one round after taking a hard hit in the corner early in Game Two.
Sunday night?s game produced a much more satisfactory team effort from the Devils, as they used the boards wisely when moving the puck out of their zone. Forwards Ryan Ruddle and captain Loren Nowland in particular appreciated the nice passes coming from defensemen such as Ryan Paskell and Mitch Oak, while reserve player Jorden Henare came off the bench to make a sweet play to Adam Soffer, who blasted the puck into the Auckland net. With head coach Keith Payne calling short line changes in the last two periods, Canterbury once again used their fresh legs to dominate territory on their way to an 11 nil win.
