There was a public session before and after the game.  The rink being privately owned limits us.  Gate receipts go to the CIHA.  Only food sales go to the rink.  Therefore from a financial standpoint, it makes sense for the rink to favor public skaters who also buy food on top of an entry fee.  They only made a certain amount of ice time available due to not wanting to cut into public sessions during their typical peak times.

The rink can do whatever they want.  Where will the CIHA go?  The other facility in chch?

I am very disapointed in Dnedin not coming to Gore as the Erewhon Cup is the Erewhon you are playing for the cup not gore, it takes nothing away from what it means to win.

Sometimes winning isn’t the point.  Just like the outdoor classic in the nhl being moved indoors would be silly now wouldn’t it?

its in the rule book.  Happened once and will happen again unless you have ownership who would prefer to sacrfice profit for a longer hockey game.

Was run time final period (not happy).  Ryan Ruddle had 4 goals.  Eaden had 1 maybe 2 I think.  Jacques had a fight in the 3rd.  Refs let it go.  Started ok but then he got his shoulder pads and jersey caught up so the other guy pumped a few good shots into him.  It was a necessary fight.  Ruddle got cross checked after his goal and Jacques did what was expected.

Game started real slow for Devils.  Swarm were up 1 nil.  Two quick goals nearing the end of the period shifted it a bit.  5 to 2 after 2 periods.  It was a good test.  Didn’t have Janos, Dan Nicholls or Kyle Papai though.  3 important players.

I’m sure there was a request at some point for Qtown to get games during winterfest.  Maybe Dunedin needs to make a similar request or perhaps request to not play during an AB’s match two years running?

haha.  I knew you’d say that!

I think there should be some parity as to when bye’s are and not overload a team but that being said, thunder were loaded early on and devils will be loaded late.

University town shouldn’t really play a part when trying to build a national league.  A player commits or he doesn’t commit.

Cheap flights might have also had something to do with schedule but that’s just guessing.  Someone made a comment, I think it was plod, saying something about “long grind”.  When you play two game in a week in a 16 game season, I still think its a very short season.  I’ve never got burnt out by it at least.  I don’t think its a big deal with scheduling.  I wouldn’t be angry if I had any other teams schedules.

dont want to knock you down buddy cause you seem very pasionate about the Thunder but no one remembers how the Thunder played for 10 minutes in the 3rd period in an away game vs the Adirmals on July 14, to consider a good team they have to do it night in night out week in week out when you look back in a years time you and others will remember the seasons results

Doesn’t matter if anyone looks back in years time.  It matters that the thunder remember this weekend how they played last weekend.  It matters for them.

hmmm wonder what it will be like having an extra player come onto the team changing up lines and and dynamics will be interesting having to pander to a player only playing at home.

    [/quote:21d67wfz]

you must have played on one of those teams that never changed the lines before and never experienced injury or ilness or anything.  I  heard there was a team like that.  Pander?  haha, funny guy

Paris Heyd left Dunedin a few years ago an reasonably good junior and is one of the better forwards in the competition now. Someone’s been doing good things with him up there.

Paris has been playing in Canada for a couple of winters I believe
