Memberhadn’t heard of a problem in chch regarding slap shots. Underage “strippers” is affirmative however
vpatrol
Memberon a less disgusting note, apparently slap shots were banned for the Auckland match. I guess the 4 million dollar rink didn’t come with nets to protect fans. A Canada/USA grudge match without slapshots seems a little odd

wholesome family fun. Well done Douglas Webber

MemberThat is a uk based article so they may have pulled info off the web. They would perhaps have been unaware of the fluid nature of the roster.

MemberOffers of help were made at the end of last season. They were warmly received and then promptly ignored.

Memberpeople need to remember that the team that NZ beat at the previous winter games was essentially an under-staffed AIHL team. That’s the quality we can expect. I think any of our nzihl teams would struggle to win against a fully stocked team like that. Focussing on the domestic is more important then trans tasman me thinks.

MemberThe aussie teams don’t want to fly to Perth so it’s doubtful they would come here willingly. It’s a nice dream but a pipe dream. We can’t even fill our rinks, develop feeder leagues, run a website, develop refs etc. Joining the AIHL would be so far into the future that its not really worth exploring.

MemberThat is not the container being referenced. You’ve obviously never experienced the Chch container outside which is actually a shipping container. Ask the old Swarm boys about it.

Membertheir roster can probably be boosted by imports this way which means there should be some pretty good players coming

Memberdo you need me to explain it to you?

interesting article.

Memberand the constant reference to a rematch from the Olympic final? Forget the fact that both teams met in the World Championships afterwards anyways. If you are going to misrepresent, one should do it accurately.

MemberI don’t think the aussie league can support a professional league. Some of the rinks couldn’t support the number of fans required (Canberra etc) to fund the salaries. New rink in Melbourne is a step in the right direction but pro hockey is a long way away.
I’m still waiting for the long awaited exhibition between an aihl team and an nzihl team. I’m also waiting to see full houses in Auckland and Dunedin before I think a pro league is a good idea.
Can you imagine a pro league with a team in chch and the rink forces run time so the public skaters can get on the ice in time?
(hey Crosby, you’re team is changing in the shipping container outside)vpatrol
Memberthe promoters who brought in elton john aren’t standing in front of the camera saying they are the champions of gay rights. These promoters however are claiming to everyone that they are trying to grow the game and promote it.
Makes me feel warm and fuzzy he isn’t as successful taking money of Cantabrians as he is elsewhere.
