MemberI don’t see any trickle down to the local games. The promoter has nothing to do with the NZIHF nor the NZIHL. Through his own admission he knows nothing about hockey and has admitted that he doesn’t care about it either. Money is what drives him and there is no money in amateur sport. Disillusioned fans might be the legacy. If one good thing could come of this is that people who paid $200 to see mediocre hockey will be pretty stoked at the bargain price of $15 to see a more genuine version of the game in the NZIHL.
The promoter is promoting the spectacle side of things (fireworks and foam fingers) which consequently has nothing to do with the american ice hockey experience (a term he must of created himself). The game is irrelevant to the environment they’re trying to create. The assumption is kiwis know nothing about the sport and would be wowed no matter how bad the action actually was. They are trying to capitalize on suposed ignorance. NZIHL and our other leagues are all about the product on the ice and developing players. It’s not about circus acts. The two entities are incompatible in many ways.
I hope he actually loses money and therefore will think twice about wading into our sport ever again.

MemberApparently frustration at being heckled by the goal judge led to the demise of the camera. Not an excuse but that’s the reason. We’ve been hiring impartial goal judges in Christchurch. Who knew we were doing it wrong all this time. I wonder if Spike Lee is available to goal judge the next games?

Membercan’t wait to get to qtown for those games!
wasn’t a bad video. didn’t like the olympic reference since they are unrelated but made it clear who was here and who wasn’t.

MemberI think it was more shock at the officiating then their own behavior that made them leave. Devils weren’t the only guilty party however. There were some shocking displays all around the rink. Regardless of that, the Stampede played a good game. One of the better displays I’ve seen from them in a while.
Fortunately for the Devils, their 3rd string goalie has a pretty good record against the Admirals and the team have confidence in him. Also fortunate is that the confidence of Stampede supporters in him is irrelevant.
Stampede don’t have to just win 4 from 4, they have to make sure its all in regulation without giving up a single point along the way. Should be an interesting end to the season is where I’m in agreement

Memberthat’s awesome. Sadly a Canadian/Indian hockey movie probably won’t make it to Hoyts

Membernot many people here have bought tickets although members of the general public who bought tickets, who have asked me about the game were very disappointed when discovering that it wasn’t team canada vs team usa as they were led to believe.

Memberstampede need all 6 points to be tied with Devils. They would go ahead on a tie breaker. If thunder get one point and all teams beat admirals, devils go through.

Memberyeah that should be a suspension. banishment perhaps

MemberAlthough I’m loathe to say Stampede out of it, I think its a Swarm/Devils final with the matter of location to be decided. Swarm have the easier road. Devils need 4 points minimum out of Stampede based on the assumption that Swarm will win the next 4.

Member4 to 2 win for devils putting them in 1st. Thunder wins 7-6 in OT.

Because it will have been by accident and they risked hurting our sport when they don’t care at all about it. When the money making opportunity is gone, so will they be. They won’t help clean up any mess so I won’t congratulate them if they make money off it and people like it. The betterment of hockey is not their intention.

Memberdo you want to put the future of our sport in their hands Blake? The promoters have nothing to do with our sport except for one money making venture. I don’t trust them and will not applaud them if it goes off well.
I don’t think you would be our best representative with Aaron Miller either
