its showing UFC stuff at the moment but it works. If it shows hockey, very cool!
vpatrolMemberThey are still a force. Would have made it to the finals had yours truly not let a weak shot sneak 5 hole with 18 seconds left. I think we were the class of the competition as far as skill and team play though.
vpatrolMemberyes there would be a need to qualify in Nelson for nationals assuming two other teams put their name in the hat. It would almost be pointless if the only other team are the Snipers (one would have to be optimistic to think they will be beaten). !0 keen players will do it though. I’ve talked to Stefan a while back and he liked the idea. Just trying to suss out further interest.
vpatrolMemberAnytime estimated date when trials will happen? March? April?

I guess you are right canadians do seem to please themselves
[/quote:mq5al4w5]when there is more than one way to spell a word, we canadians just create a 3rd just so we don’t offend anyone. Conflict resolution

EDIT: yep, and so is Manitoba … http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_drinking_age
Ryan,

You could be right, last time I was in Alberta, chocolate bars cost 50 cents with absolutely no taxes at all. Ahhh…the good ol days. Where I lived in Manitoba, I was too young to buy booze but most people just sniffed gas instead. It was multi-functional.

[/quote:2kxr6v17]BC is 19 as well. All across Canada except Quebec, which is 18.

Being a ‘kid’ sucks, but wait about three years and life will improve enormously! You will be allowed to drink till you puke and smoke till you choke – sounds like fun eh!
Ryan,
PS: have sent you a rather long PM about fundraising

Drinking age in Ontario is 19, not 18. Add another year sadly

[/quote:2ipnosh1]It’s pretty much going to be houseleague. If you are under 18, there may be a competitive team for midgets that you may be able to make. If you are skilled and “hockey smart” relative to your premier mates, you may be able to make a junior development team (Jr D). The NZIHL is like Junior C and maybe Jr B. Over 18 and you are into the beer leagues with only premier level. All the provinces have different levels so where you are going in Canada makes a difference too. Most of what I quoted is relevant for Ontario. Wee bit different out west. From what I remember (I’m getting old), many highschool teams would put a real good spanking on premier teams here.

I just couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t stop anything, I mean I felt I was in good position, the puck just kept finding holes….
I felt so crap… I mean honestly and I know people were just trying to be nice, but after a game like that I just need time to myself…. not everyone coming up and asking if I am okay…. I don’t care if the D didn’t play very well, when you get a number like 200 gazillion against ya, it doesn’t feel good, I need reflection time, not to be picked up my well-meaning people, it really didn’t help.

Don’t you love those days when you can’t stop a beach ball? lol.

Vince! Are you out there in net land?. The Old Bastards Need you to confirm youre still wanting to play.
[/quote:3btgtow9]I did want to play but nobody asked me or confirmed so I sadly have other plans now. I’ll actually be in Dunedin that weekend though. So if anyone needs a goalie or regular player that evening in Dunnerz, I’m ok to play. Can’t imagine there will be much action in town though. I won’t be anywhere near Tekapo though sadly. Sorry.
vpatrolMemberrules just say financial members of the SIHL….check. And financial members of their respective clubs and the NZIHF…check and check. Says nothing about having to play for your club in the tourney. It would appear that I’m in the clear. Woohoo!
vpatrolMember"Azzy77":1vk8gayd wrote:Vince are you registered in the SIHL?
My understaning is only players registered for SIHL clubs are eligible to play in the Erewhon cup,Since all club must be members of SIHL,
and all players must be members of their club
Ipso facto all players must be members of SIHL
[/quote:1vk8gayd]I have no idea. Since I play for the Stampede, I imagine I am registered with Southern. I had to do a transfer from Canterbury. I would assume I would have to be registered.
vpatrolMemberDoes anyone want a slightly used goalie on their team? I’m also not a bad defenseman too. I’m more than happy to play whatever position a team may need or want. Any takers?
vpatrolMemberEasiest way to watch it is with a slingbox. That’s assuming you have someone is canada or US who is willing to patch you into their internet connection and television. Some bars in Q town have done that (Canadian run of course)
The television rights may now be under the control of NASN (North American Sport Network). It’s a European based company that secured rights for Europe in 2005 and they had the option of picking up Asia Pacific as well. I can’t recall whether they exercised it or not. I can’t imagine Sky having the ability of picking it up. It’s not like it was when ESPN held the rights prior to the lock out. They difinitely can’t piggyback a Canadian signal since territory rights are clearly laid out.
Sadly its a sticky situation not easily remedied I don’t think since its all contractual instead of viewer demand oriented. Video tapes anyone?
