Joe said that they completely flaked on the checking game that was on earlier this evening in Queenstown. Turned up with 7 people, none of their top players, no Stampede players, when our guys had all turned up expecting to play another big game.
What’s going on over there in Queenstown?
[/quote:54lnquwp]Stampede had a morning and afternoon practice in qtown.

The 16 yr old got new skates prior to the U18 trip to beijing – and after 10-days of trying to get used to the lightweight blades on his new eastons – was struggling – and wanted back to t-blades on the new skates.. done -and he wont go back..
[/quote:2skbksmt]From a number of friends using them a few years back in Canada, they seem to do well on very crisp ice. Dunedin being the coldest of the major rinks, they would be ok in the winter. With the softer ice, may not be so flash.
vpatrolMemberthe current worlds longest game had the cause as pediatric cancer research. That’s why they got so much sponsorship, donations etc. If a charity is attached, it makes it so much more marketable as opposed to a club fundraiser. Media coverage increases tenfold too
vpatrolMemberHas anyone considered the possibility that the rink would not want to cancel all scheduled events for one day or more? It’s a tough logistical task running the marathon events. Getting the rink to staff the place overnight can be tough too. I’m good for 8 hours of ice time though minimum

and Ivar, IvaR not Ivan.It was a tough job but someone had to do it.
I think Ryan enjoyed his assistant special commentry just for him as well.
[/quote:1ukpvcc1]I particularly liked Jeff BO NAN ZO. Mr Bonazzo probably figured being the Ice Blacks coach would entitle him to proper pronunciation. Heck no I say.

The Rout Brothers (Stacey and Jessie)are definitely eligible.
Jamie Moore-Carter as well I think would qualifyThose three alone are pretty lethal
There are probably a few others as well, I am just going on who I know, it would be interesting to see what sort of team we could put together, and there are probably more, I mean I am the first to admit I don’t look too Maori, but neither does Paul Tito doesn’t stop him.

You can add Corey Down to the list as well as Jaden Skipper if he comes back.

Scrambles in front of the net for instance don’t give you time to look for a crease or check down ice to see if you are centered. It’s good training playing without a crease since it makes you aware of where your net is without a reference point.
[/quote:3dq5holr]I plan to never reach that level. My problem when playing in goal is cracking my neck/head on the goal coz I was skating back and missed the goal crease ” title=”Tongue” /> That and inability to stop shots and jumping out the way when slapshots are fired at me ” title=”Tongue” />
Ryan,

Just close your eyes and drop your chin with slapshots. Think happy thoughts and everything usually works out fine.

[/quote:3htdxn50]Everyone is getting new helmets I heard. Well everyone except the goalies. Screw them. Not sure what color though
vpatrolMemberI’m a goalie coach. I’ve studied the theory and am happy to coach those who want it.
vpatrolMember"Joe":1sdbqn2v wrote:Wait, are you the goalie I talked to during the Stampede game #1? (I was shooting pics from the penalty box)
[/quote:1sdbqn2v]Yup that’s me. I was doing stats. First for everything. lol.
vpatrolMember"Joe":6naologa wrote:"Azzy77":6naologa wrote:Joe would you like to tell our goalie friend how many games you have lost because of having no Goalie to give him an idea, of how many shots he will be facing. The problem is they merged the SNC and Premier practise as well, which could potentially mean 4 Goalies turning up on any given night, well that is nice for the players, that means a lot of rotation in 1 hour session, meaning not much continuity for the goalie.
[/quote:6naologa]I blame the Ducks defense for the low numbers of shots on net. Sometimes I have to take extreme measures just make sure our guest goalies stay awake during games. Know what I mean? I’m not coughing up that puck in the slot due to lack of skill — I had your interest in mind. And I agree, 2 goalies are enough for the prem practices.
Are you traveling to Gore with us? Do you like long walks in the rain too?
[/quote:6naologa]
Good news is that I brought my forward gear too so I can play out. I’m rather defensive minded as one would guess.
I got no trouble car pooling to Gore. I travel from Chch to Qtown for training so why the heck not.

[/quote:146vaasq]I looked at houses yesterday. Hoping to put an offer in. Already sussed a job out sort of. Until a house is done though, I have no where to stay so I’m not sure how long it would take before I’m down regularly.
That song was good eh? I thought it was a U2 song to be honest. It really sounded like them. Not sure though. Stacey would know.
vpatrolMember"Azzy77":1jjsjhyj wrote:You are a good Goalie Vince. I watched you from the other end in the Easton Cup final, you know I didn’t have to do anything. The only thing is, I don’t care if Patrick Roy turns up to Prems practise I don’t like rotating, its nothing personal, and I am sure you understand,
but we probably should be able to work something out.
[/quote:1jjsjhyj]Goalies like to play. I can’t remember the last time I watched my team play twice without being on the ice. Watching without my gear on was just weird. Perfectly understandable.
