Membercontact/prems grade is now called Open, in the SIHL. It’s not yet entirely clear how it’s going to work, I presume that clubs would just enter teams as per normal, but there was discussion of mixing up the players.
A precise date for paying for first half of practices was never mentioned at the meeting, but if you haven’t paid by end of March, don’t expect to be allowed on the ice. The second half was set however – that has to be paid by June 2.

MemberJuniors won’t be a grade in the southern league this year, but it will be a grade at nationals.
All juniors will compete in the open grade with the contact seniors.
But all juniors should come to the 7pm Thursday practice until it splits. I presume they’ll split to an open contact practice.
Kyle
MemberYes.
Everyone (Junior, SNC, Women, Open/Contact) etc should turn up at 7. I presume there’s going to be a fair few of us, so it might be that the session gets split pretty quickly, but they won’t know complete numbers until after registration on Sunday.
But we’re all paying for Thursday’s session as it’s one of the 30 trainings everyone gets this year, so turn up.
Kyle
MemberI think it’ll uncrowd once the dihl starts in a few weeks.
If you split it now I think you’ll find you’ll have to unsplit it in 4 weeks.
Kyle
MemberRyan, will both those teams be competing in the SIHL? Or will the senior team be playing in the southern league, and the others be the… I dunno. Development squad? Playing in the B DIHL or something?
Kyle
MemberThat’s supposed to be the plan, but none of the other clubs are putting in bantams teams.
So midget remains U16, and there’s no bantams until probably next year.

[/quote:3s1y7btb]Neil bans people from the rink quite often. Including members of the DIHA, though normally its annoying little shits at social skating sessions. I don’t know if this sort of banning would be allowed, but Dunedin Ice Stadium is not a government body, so it’s not subject to some laws – the NZ Bill of Rights Act is one that doesn’t apply for example.

MemberHey Ryan and Stefan,
Lovely letter!
Maybe you should run some things by the committee. We’ve previously advertised SK8, and other gear businesses overseas, on the web site, but not as explicitly as you’ve done. Still, the same principle should apply.
I’m not a lawyer, but my guess would be that because DIHA owns Dunedin Ice Stadium, and not the other way around, the Ice Stadium can’t tell DIHA what it can and can’t do with its web site. But DIHA might still not want it to happen, because skate sharpening and gear sale is obviously part of the Ice Stadium business, so they’d be advertising competition to their own business. And good relationships with Neil is obviously important.
If the committee was to go either way on it, at least you’d know where you stood in relation to this web site and other DIHA materials (our emails/DIHL registrations etc often used to suggest the SK8 shop for gear).
Advertising in the building is probably more a problem, as that really is Neil’s decision. He probably has the right to tell you not to advertise, and, if you do, subject you to rink discipline (sounds kinky), rightly or wrongly.
That last sentence could be taken pretty broadly. It could be taken to mean – people who advertise by talking to people in the rink; or it could be taken to mean people who undermine our business by selling gear from some other place in town and advertise totally outside the rink. The second interpretation would be a big overstep.
I can see why you’ve posted it here – it’s not a nice letter – but maybe the first step should be the DIHA committee rather than airing our internal dirty laundry over the internet first up. Up to you guys though. If you decide to take it down I’ll remove the whole thread, otherwise… game on.
Kyle
MemberHi,
Note I’ve fixed what I originally posted. All seniors at 7pm Thursday next week. This session will be further split (intermediate, advanced, contact, women) once it’s apparent what numbers are in each group.

[/quote:3r92e0wn]Thought you would have hit people up last night. There were almost 40 at the Sunday social game.
Kyle
MemberActually, I can’t play. But I’ll try and find you some referees.
